Registered Manager
Sandy Gill leads the team at Hamberley Neurocare Basingstoke, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality care for individuals with complex neurological needs. With over 13 years’ experience in neuro and neurorehabilitation services, Sandy brings a strong clinical and leadership background to her role. Originally trained in Canada, she holds a Master’s in Nursing from the University of Toronto and has worked in specialist neurological services across Canada and the UK.
Her previous roles include Senior Matron and Matron for the Brain Injury Service at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, Clinical Nurse Specialist for Stroke at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, and Clinical Nurse Specialist for Neurorehabilitation at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and Sandy has a particular interest in strategic service development, quality improvement, and person-centred care.
Her approach is rooted in evidence-based practice, team collaboration and compassionate leadership, creating an environment where staff feel empowered and residents are supported to achieve meaningful, life-enhancing outcomes. Outside of work, she enjoys international travel, countryside walks and keeping active.
Business Development Manager
Alastair White has extensive experience in neurorehabilitation and is dedicated to ensuring individuals, families, and care commissioners receive expert guidance when seeking specialist neurological care.
As Business Development Manager at Hamberley Neurocare, Alastair plays a key role in supporting families and professionals through the referral and admissions process. He understands the complexities involved in accessing specialist rehabilitation and works closely with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition into care.
Alastair has a deep understanding of the neurorehabilitation sector and the evolving needs of those living with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, stroke, and progressive neurological conditions. His expertise enables him to provide clear, informed advice, helping families and commissioners make the best decisions for those in need of care.
Committed to building strong relationships, Alastair works collaboratively with healthcare professionals, commissioners, and case managers to ensure seamless service pathways and positive outcomes for residents.
Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine
Dr Jonathan Mamo is Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine at Hamberley Neurocare and Clinical Lead for Neurological Rehabilitation at the Royal Berkshire and West Berkshire Community Hospital. His work focuses on supporting individuals with traumatic brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, and complex neurodegenerative conditions to rebuild function and improve quality of life.
With a background in acute and surgical care, Dr Mamo brings a clear understanding that recovery extends beyond the hospital. He is passionate about helping patients reclaim independence through intensive rehabilitation and believes that everyone deserves the chance to rebuild a meaningful life following injury or illness.
Dr Mamo is also involved in national NHSE initiatives to improve outcomes for spinal patients. He considers project outcomes and seeing patients exceed expectations in their recovery as the most rewarding aspects of his work.
Clinical Lead
Marlene Noel is a Registered Nurse and brings her extensive expertise in neurocare to Hamberley Neurocare. Previously the Clinical Lead with a rehabilitation service in Bagshot, Marlene has held a number of managerial and Senior Nurse roles both in the NHS and the Private Sector. As Clinical Lead, Marlene supports our specialist nursing team and neurotherapists to provide life changing rehabilitation and support.
Specialist Dietitian
Shavina Patel is a Specialist Dietitian with over a decade of experience supporting patients to meet their nutritional needs across acute hospitals, community rehabilitation, GP practices, and clinics. She specialises in elderly care, neurological disorders, diabetes, and gut health, using evidence-based nutrition therapy to enhance rehabilitation outcomes.
After qualifying as a Dietitian, Shavina advised healthcare professionals on enteral feeding and nutritional supplements. She then spent over 10 years in the NHS, and for the last several years has provided expert dietetic support to private patients and rehabilitation services.
Passionate about improving lives through nutrition, Shavina focuses on preventing malnutrition, enhancing recovery, and supporting overall well-being. She values collaboration within healthcare teams and finds great fulfilment in seeing the positive impact of tailored nutrition plans.
Physiotherapist
Reece Lambert-Lewis is an experienced physiotherapist specialising in neurological rehabilitation and complex care. He works closely with residents to restore mobility and independence, delivering tailored physiotherapy programmes based on clinical evidence and individual goals.
Reece began his career as a Physiotherapy Assistant in a specialist neurological hospital, later qualifying as a physiotherapist and gaining experience in acute hospital settings, community care, and specialist rehabilitation centres. He has worked extensively with individuals recovering from brain injuries, stroke, spinal cord injuries, and neurodegenerative conditions.
At Hamberley Neurocare, Reece plays a key role in developing physiotherapy services, implementing personalised treatment plans, and working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve meaningful rehabilitation outcomes. He believes in building strong relationships with residents, adapting his approach to meet their unique needs and motivations.
