Chief Executive Officer

Paul Hill

Chief Executive Officer

As CEO of Hamberley Care Homes and Hamberley Neurocare, Paul has implemented his vision to radically upgrade the traditional delivery of care seen across much of the UK.  A registered nurse, Paul has worked in healthcare since starting as a care worker in 1989 and has a keen interest in gaining and sharing sector knowledge, successfully completing a post graduate diploma in gerontology, working on a University nurse tutor programme and teaching and assessing in clinical practice.  Prior to joining Hamberley Care Homes, Paul was CEO of Badby Park Group, a successful private equity-backed neurological care business.  Previously, Paul has held several senior executive roles including: Managing Director of Consensus and Managing Director of Swanton Care and Community, both large providers of complex care services. Paul has also worked in senior roles in the elder care, fostering, children’s care services and assistive technology sectors. Under Paul’s stewardship, several organisations have been recognised with National awards including assistive technology provider of the year 2003, specialist provider of the year 2011 and residential care provider of the year 2019.

Paul has a passion for learning and has supplemented his experience with qualifications including: a diploma in business and finance from; an MBA from Leicester University; certified ISO9000 auditor; accredited clinical practice teacher and assessor and a diploma in performance coaching.

Director of Operations

Aderio Rocha

Director of Operations

Aderio brings a wealth of experience in healthcare management to his role at Hamberley Neurocare, combining clinical expertise with executive leadership. Originally from Portugal, his academic credentials include a nursing degree, a postgraduate degree in Finance and Management of Health Services, and an MBA in Economy and Finances in Health Services.

Aderio's career has seen him commission new services and take on roles such as Regional Clinical Specialist and Director of Operations across various care providers. His notable achievements include receiving the Area Manager award at the National Care Awards in 2019.

In his role, Aderio ensures operational efficiency and compliance with rigorous standards across the group’s portfolio. His responsibilities include strategic planning, quality improvement, financial management, and leveraging technology to boost service delivery. He lives by the principle, "the standard you walk past is the standard you accept."

Outside of work, Aderio, a former professional athlete, enjoys Formula 1, drawing, and exploring new technologies.

Director of Quality

Charlotte Quartey

Director of Quality

Charlotte provides operational support and leadership, as well as support for integration projects and quality assurance, for all Hamberley Neurocare. Charlotte is a qualified nurse with significant experience of working in care homes at home management and senior operational manager level.

Passionate about championing high standards of care, with a particular interest in dementia care and training and development, Charlotte has more than 30 years experience in the health and social care sector. Having worked as a deputy manager, home manager and regional manager, Charlotte knows first-hand the right levels of support and leadership required to deliver an outstanding care experience for our residents.

Also, Charlotte’s own experience of looking after her elderly relatives, has played a significant role in being more understanding, empathic and compassionate to deliver and empower care for people living with dementia. Charlotte is a qualified Coach and master practitioner in Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), and she spent six years in Austria teaching English to professionals, and as a primary school teacher.

Specialist Service Director

Susan Lovelace

Specialist Service Director

Susan qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1989 and enjoyed extensive career in complex trauma and accident and emergency nursing at St Thomas' Hospital, London. A passionate advocate for outstanding patient care, Susan is dedicated to supporting patients in achieving the best quality of life. One of her main aims is to be a voice for patients, helping them reach their life goals.

Susan specialised in spinal nursing for a large private provider, focusing on the rehabilitation of veterans. As a ward manager, she moved with the unit to Stoke Mandeville Hospital. She completed the ENB spinal injuries course and became involved in teaching and mentoring student nurses.

Susan has held various management roles, including a regional position managing Acquired Brain Injury Units for Huntercombe and an operational role at St Andrew's Healthcare for adolescents with mental health concerns and learning disabilities.

She has also served in senior roles, such as Head of Care and Operations for Elizabeth Finn Homes Ltd and COO for a healthcare company. Susan's most recent role involved completing Disability Impact Assessments, conducting demographic research, and advising on the Equality Act and its implications. Susan completed an LLB (Hons) degree at Oxford Brookes in 2005 and an MBA in 2009.

Outside of work, Susan enjoys theatre, ballet, reading, and is actively involved with Amnesty International.

Business Development Manager

Cheryl Cowell

Business Development Manager

Cheryl's career in complex health and social care spans over 20 years, starting in forensic secure services. Cheryl developed a passion for neurological rehabilitation in 2010 when she joined a small provider with significant investment to grow both organically and via mergers/acquisitions. During her employment, she was fundamental to the development of new services in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Yorkshire, and the Midlands.

Throughout her career, Cheryl has supported the development of Level 2b neuro rehab, complex nursing, residential, and supported living services nationally and is a huge advocate of collaborative working. Cheryl has worked for several neurological rehab providers, including St Andrew's Healthcare (neuropsychiatric services) and The Oakleaf Group, where she launched the stroke pathway. Cheryl went on to develop her own healthcare consultancy business, where she assisted private providers in collaborating with their NHS counterparts.

Cheryl has developed trusted relationships with a range of stakeholders across Commissioning Support Units, Integrated Care Boards, Foundation Trusts, and Local Authorities. When it comes to care, Cheryl endorses a “quality first” mindset and believes that adopting a person-centred, collaborative approach to rehabilitation is fundamental to delivering high-quality care and maximising outcomes.

Cheryl's father suffered a sudden onset brain injury in 2014, which left him unable to walk or talk and severely cognitively impaired for his surviving nine years. This provided Cheryl with valuable insight into the anguish experienced by families when supporting a loved one with a range of complex needs.

In her spare time, Cheryl is a volunteer fundraiser for a care farm providing work opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and autism in a safe and therapeutic environment.

Dr Jonathan Mamo

Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine

Dr Mamo is the clinical lead for Neurological Rehabilitation at the Royal Berkshire and West Berkshire Community Hospital. Dr Mamo supports patients with traumatic brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury and neurodegenerative diseases.

Kirsty Page

Therapy Development Manager

Kirsty Page is a Registered Occupational Therapist with extensive expertise in Neurological Rehabilitation, complex care and progressive neurological conditions.

She has a special interest in Huntington’s Disease, having developed Occupational Therapy guidelines and clinical tips for OT’s working with people with Huntington’s Disease for the European Huntington’s Disease Network. As Therapy Development Manager, Kirsty supports our Therapy teams to ensure delivery of high quality, evidenced based Therapy which support residents’ goals and provides measurable outcomes. 

Home Manager

Richard Clark

Home Manager

Richard joins Hamberley with a wealth of experience in operational and strategic management in specialist healthcare services. A registered Occupational Therapist with 27 years’ experience working with male, female, adolescent and older adult services including learning disability, neuropsychiatry, autistic spectrum disorder, mental health and personality disorder ranging from medium security through to community houses.

He is commercially aware having developed a number of new services, been instrumental in service re-design and established new pathways of care across multiple sites. He has successfully managed and developed large multi-professional teams and is committed to high quality patient-centred care.

Richard has worked closely with commissioners, regulatory bodies and peer reviewers to monitor and continuously improve standards of care, turning around a number of services with low CQC ratings.

Gill Irish

Registered Manager

Gill Irish is a Registered Nurse trained in both general and paediatric care. She brings extensive experience from managing acute services in the NHS, complex care in the community, and nursing homes. As Registered Manager, Gill supports individuals and families, care commissioners and her team, ensuring Hamberley Neurocare Basingstoke is an outstanding service in which to live and work.

Tasa Zilic

Registered Manager

With over a decade of experience in healthcare management and nursing, Tasa Zilic specialises in complex nursing and neuro rehabilitation since 2018. As the Registered Manager at Hamberley Neurocare Southampton, Tasa brings extensive expertise to the field of healthcare management. She began her career as a paramedic and A&E coordinator, gaining invaluable insights into acute care settings before transitioning into a leadership role focused on long-term rehabilitation.

Prior to joining Hamberley Neurocare, she enhanced and developed neuro rehab services across various settings. Tasa's passion for complex nursing and rehabilitation has been the driving force behind her career, fuelling her commitment to delivering exceptional care and driving continuous improvement. At previous services, she managed a significant transformation, transitioning a regular nursing home into a renowned centre for high-complexity neuro rehabilitation care.

Tasa's steadfast dedication to advancing patient outcomes and service excellence underscores her role as a leader in the healthcare community. This specialist branch of complex nursing and neuro rehabilitation is especially rewarding for Tasa as she witnesses and supports individuals through their toughest journeys in life, nurturing resilience and empowerment along the way.
